DAIKIN PARK

CHRISTCHURCH

Full Electrical, Lighting & Solar Installation.

Daikin’s new Hornby facility marks a major upgrade for their South Island operations — a purpose-built distribution centre designed to support higher capacity, improved workflow, and a strong commitment to sustainability. With Green Star Credits a key priority, Daikin required an electrical and solar partner capable of delivering efficiency, precision, and performance at scale.

ATL was engaged to complete the full internal and external electrical installation, alongside a large solar system designed to support Daikin’s long-term energy goals. The result is a modern, efficient, high-performing site built for the future.

Objectives

Daikin required a complete electrical and energy solution covering both the warehouse and office spaces. Key requirements included.

  • Full internal electrical fit-out across offices, showroom, trade centre, training room, kitchen and boardroom

  • Complete warehouse power and lighting design

  • Carpark, perimeter and canopy lighting

  • Emergency lighting throughout entire site

  • Wiring for automated dock levellers

  • EV charging stations

  • Large solar system to support Green Star sustainability targets (98.6 kW expected performance)

  • Extensive metering for energy consumption and monitoring

  • Feature lighting and high-quality lighting control in key customer-facing areas

Sustainability, efficiency, safety, and future-proofing were primary priorities across all decision-making.

Challenges

This project came with several large-scale construction challenges:

Green Star electrical compliance

The Green Star certification process required extensive electrical testing, documentation, and coordination with on-site assessors — more involved than a standard commercial install.

Warehouse lighting complexity

As racking layouts evolved, ATL revisited and adjusted high-bay lighting positions and heights to ensure safe, even illumination across all storage zones.

Coordination across a major build

With multiple subcontractors and overlapping construction stages, precision coordination was critical to maintaining momentum and meeting timelines.

Large solar installation

A total of 170 panels were installed — a straightforward design but a significant logistical scope due to size and roof coverage.

Solutions Delivered

ATL approached the project through tight collaboration between internal divisions, external partners, and on-site teams. Regular planning meetings ensured accurate staging, safe operation and full alignment with Daikin’s timeline.
