HEALTHY HOMES STANDARDS
The Healthy Homes Standards set the minimum requirements for heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture control, drainage, and draught stopping in rental properties. All rental homes in New Zealand must meet these standards - unless a specific exemption applies.
As a landlord or property manager, it’s your responsibility to ensure your rental stays compliant over time. Meeting these standards helps protect your investment, reduces long-term maintenance costs, and ensures tenants enjoy warm, dry, and healthy homes.
